Suranya Aiyar Delivers Letter to Norwegian PM Erna Solberg Against Barnevernet During Visit to India

January 9, 2019

The Norwegian Embassy refused to send a Norwegian official to receive my petition. After telling security to make me wait outside for several minutes they called the police on me. Two jeeps full of police were summoned – 6 in all. I was told that I could only hand over my petition to one Indian security officer standing there. I asked him if it was the official position of the embassy that they would refuse to take my petition from my hand. He said he could not give any official statement. I asked him why they were refusing to send a Norwegian official to take my petition when they had sent a consular official when two Americans had appeared before the Norwegian Embassy in Vienna. I asked why I, an Indian, was not given the same privilege. There was no answer. I asked if Norway is the flagbearer of feminism in the world then why can Erna Solberg or her representative not come and meet me, a woman and mother alone. There was no reply except that the police said they will arrest me. I had to leave after the security official signed but refused to stamp or officially acknowledge my petition. On the police telling him to give a contact number he put the landline number of the Norwegian Embassy in Delhi. There is no one who cares for mothers and children out there. No voice for us. I told the Indian official to describe my weeping face to his Norwegian masters who refused to even see me. What occurred previous to this at the Embassy is on record on my live video. Please support the worldwide protest against child stealing by Norway.
