Since yesterday, September 8th, with the commencement of the G20 Summit in New Delhi, mothers from India to the United Kingdom to the USA have united to make a stand against Global North G20 countries for snatching their children and those of their sisters, especially from the Global South and all mothers of economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. They have also thanked Indian judges who wrote to the G20 Members and Invited States and Organisations calling for repatriation to the home country of children taken from expatriate parents in the Global North.

In New Delhi, Suranya Aiyar has been on hunger strike since September 8th and has been joined today, September 9th, by Dhara Shah, Gujarati mother whose first born and only child, a little girl, has been in German state custody for the last two years. Jain community activist and social worker, Avnish Jain, conducted a twitter conference that went over 2 hours in which Dhara and her husband Bhavesh, and Suranya Aiyar answered questions and took suggestions from the public about the issues with Global North child agencies.

In London, the mother’s network, Support Not Separation held a demonstration on September 8 outside the Indian High Commission (India House) at 12 noon where they made speeches condemning, as genocidal, the Global North G20 countries’ practice of confiscating children of Global South origins and refusing to return them to their native countries.
They also spoke of the 82,000 children in foster care in the UK, who are disproportionately children of colour, children who are disabled, children whose mums are single mothers, victims of domestic violence, young women and care leavers. They held placards with the hashtag #G20GiveOurKidsBack saying “Indian Mothers We Are With You”, “Thank You Indian Judges for Speaking Up”, “End Sexist and Racist History of Stealing Children” “End the Secrecy. Open the Family Courts” and “Take Away Our Poverty Not Our Children”.
