Sagarika Chakraborty, the real life heroine who fought an entire nation, Norway, to get her children back from its notorious child services, Barnevernet, wrote her story into a book and found an agent who got her a movie deal with a big Bollywood star, Rani Mukerjee. The movie generated much excitement among critics of Barnevernet in Norway. It was also welcomed by activists and victims around the world campaigning against the injustice and corruption of child services agencies everywhere. Child protection agencies go wrong in the same way wherever they exist in the world. As the saying goes, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. When you add racism and other prejudices to the mix, as when foreign families are caught up in child services proceedings, you get a cocktail of bias and cruelty thagt Sagarika dealt with in Norway that was vividly portrayed in the film.
